The Fall of the Rebel Angels
DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK
During the designing process of the three outfits, I used in addition to the Bruegel painting, ancient Jewish art and calligraphy letters. The letters which express the description of Hillel’s´ body were taken from the painted Jewish bible – part of “holy hand painted documents” from the14th and 15th century.
I got inspirad from a painting of Pieter Bruegel. It shows the archangel Michael and his followers, banishing out of heaven the angels who have rebelled against god. The bible mentions one of the angels, in Isaiah book chapter 14 passage12: “How you are fallen from heaven, Hillel Ben Shahar".
I used canvas paintings & transparent fabrics that have alternating colors. I created channels by sewing the fabric in cretin areas along the body silhouette, and filled them with beads and other materials like metallic paper, plastic & fabric pieces.
