DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK
‘‘Disposal society‘‘ is an ironical critisism on nowadays throwaway society, that is affected by monotony and mass production and is in hommage to arts and crafts, which disappear thereby more and more.
Accumulation makes art and reality approach each other. In this theme it serves as criticism of society and expression of a condition from humans in this day and age. It is inspired by Armand Pierre Fernandez. He concentrated on disordered and methodical arrangements of utility objects.
Safety pins are chosen as utility object. Used as a symbolisation for handcraft. Around 50 000 safety pins with beads are used and wind up on braces to set them up on a strong carrier fabric out of cotton. Organza and chiffon out of silk are supplemented.
